🌅 Slender West Lake: Arrive before 7:30 AM on weekdays for peaceful scenery. Weekends are crowded by 9 AM. The park is best explored counterclockwise from the South Gate.
🍵 Morning Tea: Arrive before 8 AM at popular tea houses (富春, 冶春). The experience is as important as the food. Take your time - it's a social ritual, not a quick meal.
🏯 Gardens: Ge Garden and He Garden are 2km apart. Visit both in one morning. Ge Garden is better for bamboo, He Garden for architecture. Combined ticket available.
🚢 Canal Museum: Book via WeChat "运河博物馆" or at the entrance. Free admission but capacity limited. Allow 3-4 hours. The rooftop garden has canal views.

From Nanjing: 45-60 minutes by bus (¥35-45) or 30-40 minutes by HSR to Yangzhou Station (¥50-65). From Zhenjiang: 25-35 minutes by bus across the Yangtze River Bridge (¥15-25). Yangzhou is a perfect day trip from Nanjing.
Huaiyang cuisine (淮扬菜) is one of China's four major culinary traditions, known for delicate flavors, beautiful presentation, and knife skills. Signature dishes include Yangzhou fried rice (扬州炒饭), lion's head meatballs (蟹粉狮子头), and crystal pork (水晶肴肉).
Best time is March-May and September-November. Spring offers cherry blossoms and comfortable weather at Slender West Lake. Autumn has beautiful foliage. Summer can be hot but the lake provides cool breezes.
